At the OTA we tried a new system for organizing and projecting the winners photos onscreen during the awards ceremony. We were trying to speed up what was usually a couple hour job to make things easier. Our photographer did a great job coming up with a form we could use to enter winners names and automatically align those names with photos of the winning mounts. It worked......terribly
The system did not take into account multiple entries by the same person when choosing photos...and when it DID take that into account it picked the WRONG photos.
To clear up some things that were NOT projected correctly:
The BIGGEST snafu involved a LION that was entered by Cary Cochran and Casey Watterson.
When People's Choice Lifesize was posted it OMITTED Cary Cochran's name. Then later the Lion was shown again as Collective Artists winner with Casey Watterson AND Cary's name. To be CLEAR...the LION was entered as a COLLECTIVE ARTIST entry under the names of Casey and Cary. The computer made it look like it was entered in 2 categories which was NOT the case. ALL pieces in the show are eligible for VOTED awards, Peoples Choice is "Peoples Choice".
Later on the LION was shown AGAIN as part of Casey's Best All Around package. To be CLEAR...the LION was NOT one of his BAA pieces. He had a FISH, GROUSE, FOX and DEER HEAD entered.
Masters Walnut Creek Award Winner - Jeff Jones Rock Greenling Fish won the award...NOT the trout that was pictured.
WASCO award - Greg Pallauf - Canvasback on a WAVE won the award...NOT his Eider that was pictured
We should have PROOF READ the program BUT to be honest we were just happy it didn't take 2 hours to set up. NOW we know entry numbers AND names need included. Live and learn.
I hope that clears it all up. Thanks to ALL who joined us in Ohio for a great show
