Hey everyone, I was a member of the PTO for quite a few years. Sorry to say, I haven't kept up for awhile. I am thinking of joining again. Loved the State shows. Anyway, I was wondering what everyone would think of adding a " Lifetime Membership" such as the NTA does, for a flat fee, maybe $500.00 or whatever? I realize the OTA would still need to generate funds, so maybe all Life Members could pay 1/2 price to enter pieces into competition. Maybe set up a monthly payment plan for life members as well, so funds wouldn't need to be paid in one lump, with the economy in it's current state. Just throwing a thought out there. Thanks, have a great one!

That would be a little tricky with the new setup, automatically combining show fees with what used to be considered dues. If it was dues, and show fees seperate it would be pretty simple, sounds like a topic for the next board meeting. ;D

It could be set up whichever way is easiest. Just an idea I thought maybe of some interest.

It's not a bad idea, many organizations do it.

Thanks, Jim. How's Ron Ball? Is he on here somewhere? I'd love to learn some Whitetail Competition methods from him!

I know I would buy a Lifetime Membership as soon as it was/is offered. I would like to see it checked into.

Not really. This will only be our fourth year and working that out has not been at the top of the agenda. The first 2 years we got the house in order. The next 2 we worked on getting it to run smooth. Our goal for these next 2 is to start to implement new ideas and make the OTA stable for the future.
We have tried to do things the right way this time so that no one person can wreck the organization.

I would just like to chime in about the lifetime membership questions I have seen on here. I am a lifetime member of 4 different organizations. One observation I have made is that after a few years those organizations start soliciting me to upgrade my membership. I believe it takes good planning to have a life membership. If the organization takes that lifetime money and puts it all into their general operating fund without holding some back it creates a shortfall of capital down the road, thus generating the need to reach out to the life members for more money. I believe that is why I have been solicited to upgrade my membership by 3 of the 4 that I hold life member status. It can be a slippery slope to navigate. By the way the only organization to not harass me for additional monies is the NTA.
So in essence what I am saying is that if we decide it is good for us to have a lifetime membership, it must be designed wisely and in the best interest of the organization. Keeping this in mind it may cause the dollar amount to be higher than most are willing to pay.
Well there is my 2 cents. Do I have any change coming back?
